Masking tape is a great tool in your pest fighting arsenal - I'm not suggesting it's the only thing you should do - just keep it in mind as an option when others may not be feasible or convenient.

This Monstera deliciosa sits at the back of my church with lots of people walking around it, which makes beneficial insects not an option - sure, I know they don't really leave the plant but it's merely the idea that doesn't sit well with the average person.

A spray would take up too much of my time to administer and the smell might be off-putting.

I might try systemic if the infestation spreads faster than I can control with the occasional tape treatment.

In any case, I'm still super happy with how this plant has grown since coming back to the church!

I used to get frustrated by the tip browning until I realized trying to maintain leaf perfection was futile.

Instead, the way people enjoy these plants in the long run is to ensure new leaves keep growing as older ones retire - and to accept your plant structure will change over time.

A lot of what people say is "difficult" about a plant is just being upset by imperfections. Here's my mindset:
~ Leaves have a limited lifespan: "proper care" doesn't keep leaves perfect forever
~ Ensure your conditions and care encourage new growth
~ Embrace changes in your plant; accept leaf turnover
